Group Dog Training Classes
Do you dream of a dog you can take anywhere? If you struggle to find the right fit and understanding from your dog trainers, enrol them in our dog training classes to see real change and have a family member you can take camping, to cafes and all the other places you want to go!
Our 6-week group dog training classes cater to dogs of all ages, sizes, and abilities. With small, personalised dog training sessions, our dog trainers provide tailored training that moves at your dog’s pace, ensuring you and your dog receive the attention and guidance needed.
Learn why your dog behaves the way they do and how to shape their behavior, creating a well-behaved family member who can be part of everything you do.
Puppy Preschool
Puppy Preschool
Ages: 8 weeks (2 weeks after their first vaccination) - 14 weeks
Puppies are sponges for experience and learning – even the things we would prefer they didn’t learn!
Dreaming of a dog that you can take anywhere? The first 16 weeks of your puppy’s life is crucial for creating the way they look and associate with the world.
Our puppy training classes help you understand your puppy and build a foundation for a lifelong bond. Designed for puppies 8 weeks and beyond, these classes focus on socialisation and fun, guided by our passionate and experienced dog trainers.
Puppies can start from 8 weeks of age following their first vaccination.
In a calm and social environment you and your pup will learn how to:
- Look through your puppy’s eyes – understand how they experience the world
- Navigate naughty behaviours – problem solve how to create a calm and happy puppy. Some of the behaviours we help you to understand and change- Chewing excessively - or on things that shouldn't!
- Jumping up when uninvited
- Mouthing or biting
- Over-excitability
 
- House training – teach your dog where to go to the toilet
- Settling in a crate
- Calm interactions with other dogs and people
- Basic cues: sit, drop, settle
- Social manners
You will receive a welcome pack in your first week which includes $30 in value!
Cost: $140 for 4 weeks. Classes runs Monday nights at 5:30 pm or 6:45 pm at Playful Paws®.
Bring a mat, a flat collar, or chest harness, a regular leash (no extender leads), and plenty of high-value treats (small pieces).
Playful Puppy
Ages: Puppies over 12+ weeks - 9months (some exceptions made for different breeds of dogs!)
Dreaming of a dog that you can take anywhere? Go for an enjoyable walk, show off cool tricks or even just enjoy a casual coffee somewhere!
Our Playful Puppy class will help you build on behaviours you desire by helping you to see experiences through their eyes. Playful puppy is a fun way to build on your puppies skills and create an ever lasting bond with your pup. Our trainers are passionate and experienced focus on helping you to build the rapport with your puppy.
Puppies can start from 14 weeks, once fully vaccinated. All sizes, breeds and temperaments welcome!
Playful Puppy is aimed at building the foundations for future learning and some of the topics this class covers are:
Playful Puppy class inclusions:
- Looking through your puppy’s eyes – understand how they experience the world and continue to build on your bond with your puppy
- Problem solve cheeky behaviours tocreate a calm and happy puppy. Some of the behaviours we help you to understand and change- Stealing things they shouldn't have - like bread of the kitchen bench!

- How to maintain your puppies focus with distraction
- How to settle on a mat with the aim to enjoy taking them out for a cuppa!

- Maintaining focus amidst distractions

Terrible Two's
Ages: Dogs can start this course from 6 months and their is no upper age limit. All sizes, breeds and temperaments welcome!
Yikes! You're dog is a teenager!
Do you have a young adult that sticks their paw up at you when you ask them to do something? Or perhaps they pretend not to hear you? Or simply just out right ignore you?
Our Terrible Two classes will help you to understand adolescent behaviour and when to start back at square one. Learn how to stay calm and learn the quirks of your soon to be adult puppy. Your dog will be amazing to live with. They will be calm with visitors and will start to listen to you. But first you have to navigate the joys of hormones and the changes they bring! Our trainers are passionate and experienced and will help you find how to connect with your teenager to bring out their best!
Dogs can start this course from 6 months and their is no upper age limit. All sizes, breeds and temperaments welcome!
Terrible Two's is aimed at building the foundations for future learning and some of the topics this class covers are:
- Understanding how to navigate hormones, different development stages and quirky new behaviours that crop up
- How to meet people politely
- How to sit and drop and settle in new environments with lots of distractions!
- How to maintain focus with distraction
- How to teach some cool tricks! Like high 5 or roll over or beg!
- How to calmly meet and / ignore other dogs on lead
- How to settle on a mat with the aim to enjoy taking them out for a cuppa!
- How to walk politely on lead, different equipment you can use and how to do it so you don't injure yourself!
- Introducing agility, tricks and other socialisation activities
- How to come back when called!
- Understand how your behaviour can influence your dogs connection to you
- Any other relevant topics that arise
Please bring:
- A flat collar, head halter or chest harness and a regular leash (no extender leads!)
- Lots of high value treats (cut as small as ½ your pinkie nail) - don’t be too stingy!
- Any questions you may have
- A fun attitude!
- Your clicker (if you don't have one, we have some available for purchase)
Cost: $210 for 6 weeks. Classes are held Thursdays at 5:30 pm at Playful Paws®.
Casual Group Dog Training Classes
For those who can’t commit to a 6-week program we offer casual group dog training classes. Designed to build and maximise a positive relationship with your dog, each session is tailored to those attending. All ages and breeds welcome.
This is a fun and interactive, games based class. Teach your dog cool tricks whilst building on the bond between you both!
Want to teach your dog awesome tricks to show off at a family barbecue? Or perhaps teach a useful skill (like fetching a beer from the fridge)? This flexible class is for you! 
We tailor this class each week to suit who is in the class, so each week is slightly different. 
Things we cover
- Off-lead listening and learning skills
- Recall games - so you have a dog that is happy to come back
- Socialisation - being calm and confident in new environments
- Teaching you the different levels of learning and reinforcement
- Interacting calmly with other dogs
- Targeting exercises - such as closing doors and high 5, carrying items
- Games! Like simon says, temptation tower, golf, grooming games
- Doggy Dancing; such as the hokey pokey
- Social - walking politely with increased distractions
What to bring
 
- A flat collar, head halter or chest harness and a regular leash (no extender leads!)
- Lots of high value treats (cut as small as ½ your pinkie nail) - don’t be too stingy!
- Any items you'd like to start teaching your dog tricks with (skateboards, retrieving items, mats etc)
- A sense of humour
Cost - $35 per class
Perfect for the occasional brush up on your skills, or a regular flexible session held through the day! This flexible class allows you to drop in when you can! This means that your dog will always be socialising with different dogs, whilst working on listening to you.
We tailor this class each week to suit who is in the class, so each week is slightly different. 
Things we cover 
- Walking nicely on lead
- Coming when you call them
- Basic and intermediate tricks (want to train your dog to get a beer from the fridge? We can start working on this!)
- Food refusal - not taking food when it’s offered
- Teaching your dog to go and lay on their bed
- Interacting calmly with other dogs
What to bring
- A flat collar, head halter or chest harness and a regular leash (no extender leads!)
- Lots of high value treats (cut as small as ½ your pinkie nail) - don’t be too stingy!
Running Mondays at 11 am & 12:30 pm
Cost: $35 per class
Teaching your dog to meet dogs and people on and off lead.
Does your dog pull or lunge toward other dogs? Are they scared when they meet dogs? Do they not know how to play with other dogs off lead? Our Social Sessions are aimed at both on and off lead social skills whilst your dog’s continue to listen to you!
The focus will be on your dog learning social skills in a supportive and friendly environment.
This class is suitable for any age dog and will cover:
- Building on your bond with your dog
- Listening to you when you call them!
- Learning how to meet other dogs on lead calmly
- Socialising at different distances, until your dog is comfortable
- Off-lead play in a controlled and fenced environment
- How to maintain your dog’s focus with distraction
- Teach your puppy to settle, perfect to take them out for a cuppa!
- Teaching them to walk nicely on lead
Social Sessions is held with a maximum of 8 puppies per session

			Private Dog Training Available
Our training involves the entire family, ensuring everyone is engaged in the process. To prepare for a private dog training session, bring plenty of treats and ensure anyone involved in your dog's life is present.
Cancellation policy 
We kindly request 48 hours’ notice if you need to cancel your training session. Failure to do so may result in cancellation fees.
